Hebner Farmette She Shed,
where needles and yarn collide.
The Hebner Farmette is home to luxurious fiber producing llamas and goats who roam a rocky landscape and actively devour poison ivy, knotweed, and brambles. These landscape engineers turn the weeds and brambles into amazing fiber.
In 2017, founder Denise Hebner, traded in her high heels and a New York City commute for cowboy boots and more time for farming, designing posh knitwear, producing luxurious fiber and baking.
Denise draws upon ‘all things nature’ to create posh designs that are anchored in symbolism to inspire, build confidence and bring joy to the knitting community. And, on occasion she bundles kits using her luxurious llama, cashmere and mohair fiber to share with fellow yarn aficionados.
When Denise is not tending to the animals and gardens, you may find her in the kitchen developing fabulous bakes and savory cuisine using locally sourced ingredients.
The Hebner Farmette is a happy place. We respect our herd, our environment, our knitting community and the farmers who contribute to our luxurious fiber + fabulous bakes + savory cuisine.
Meet our team.
Denise, Chief Farmer + Designer + Baker
Denise’s love of farming and design started with 4-H at the age of 10 where she learned to knit, sew, work with wood and care for animals with confidence.
These skills are drawn upon on a daily basis as a Farmer, Designer and Baker. She designs posh knitwear using the luxurious fiber produced by her beloved herd, and uses locally sourced ingredients to make fabulous bakes and savory cuisine. From Denise’s perspective, Farm Life is the Best Life.
Rosita, Chief Security + Compost Officer
In 2015, Rosita joined our team to guard the goats from potential harm. She is an Argentinian miniature llama equipped with gorgeous eyes, a calm demeanor and luxurious fiber. Rosita is not only a security guard but a copious compost contributor for our organic gardens.
Hildegarde, Chief Instigating Officer
In 2014, Hildegarde joined our team as the Alpha goat responsible for instigating trouble, correcting herd behavior and vocalizing displeasure.
She is a Virginia born cashmere goat equipped with a white star to remind us of her spectacular nature. She has a loving personality, large ears, curved horns and prolific downy fiber.
